Melissa Johnston Price
Melissa Johnston Price has been involved in Richmond area theatre for over 35 years. She was a founding member and Managing Director of the Richmond Theatre Company and Artistic Director for its touring children’s wing. During her tenure, she helped grow the company to touring 5 states with 5 shows a season with multiple casts, all original plays featuring audience participation with 3 – 5 year olds. She has been involved in events coordination with various organizations including June Jubilee, the Richmond Children’s Festival, and was the Festival Director of the 17th Street Farmer’s Market Festival in cooperation with the Tour de Richmond. On the stage, she has been voted Style Weekly’s Favorite Actress for three years and has been nominated four times as Best Actress in both Supporting and Leading Roles and won for her portrayal of Barbara in August: Osage County produced by Cadence Theatre Company in cooperation with Virginia Repertory Theatre. She is the 2014 recipient of the Teresa Pollack Award for Excellence in the Arts. She and her husband, Roger Price, own Whisper Recording and record phone voice prompts for such prominent establishments as the US Federal Government and Bank of America. She has been Quill Theatre’s Production Manager for the past year.
